Historical Milestones
Bobby Cox is a baseball legend. Cox played in the major leagues for two seasons with the New York Yankees in 1968 and 1969 as a third baseman. After retiring from playing he got into coaching, winning a World Series with the Yankees as their first base coach when they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1977 World Series. He went on to manage the Atlanta Braves twice from 1978-1981 and 1990-2010 as well as the Toronto Blue Jays from 1982-1985.
During his incredible managerial career, he won 2,504 games, the majority of those wins coming with his twenty-five years with the Braves. While in Atlanta he led the team to National League Pennants in 1991, 1992, 1995, 1996, and 1999. Cox won his only World Series title as a manager in 1995 when the Braves defeated the Cleveland Indians in six games. Over the course of his Hall of Fame career he was named the Manager of the Year four times and in 2011 his #6 jersey was retired by the Braves.
