At the age of 17 Wright would make his debut for Team Canada at the 2021 IIHF World U18 Championships where he would finish second in the tournament in scoring with 14 points including two goals in the final against Team Russia in a 5-3 victory to help Team Canada secure the gold medal. Wright's solid performance in this tournament led to a re-invite to the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championships where he would be named captain of the team, a distinction he called a "true honour". Again, Wright would impress as captain posting 4 goals and 3 assists including helping Team Canada to another gold medal in a 3-2 win in the gold medal game against Czechia. This rubber Team Canada logo hockey puck is autographed by Shane Wright.
