Starting in goal for the Wales Conference was none other than Patrick Roy, a Montreal Canadien getting the chance to play an All-Star Game in front of his home crowd in his fifth of 11 career All-Star Game appearances. The Hall of Famer put on a show, recording 11 assists and allowing 0 goals in a 16-6 win over the Campbell Conference. The excitement in Montreal continued that year as the Canadiens made a run to win their 24th Stanley Cup Finals, adding to their all-time lead in the NHL. Roy set a playoff record of ten straight overtime wins, on his way to winning his second of three Conn Smythe Trophies.
