The Berlin, Germany native came to the United States to play college basketball for the University of Michigan, where he was a standout. With a Big Ten All-Freshman first team selection followed by an Elite Eight run the next season, Wagner was selected eighth overall in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic. He immediately began to shine, including a December that featured a career-high 38-point game on the way to the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month award, before eventually being named to the 2021-22 NBA All-Rookie First Team. Wagner has continued to improve and make an impact in Orlando, with his third season being capped off with the Magic's first playoff berth in the playoffs in four years. He has followed that up with an even stronger start to the 2023-24 season, including a team-leading 30.5 points per game in group play of the NBA Cup to help advance the Magic into the knockout stage. The first few years have been a glimpse of what is to come in the career of Franz Wagner. This basketball is autographed by Franz Wagner with a silver paint pen.
