Jim Palmer is widely regarded among the best starting pitchers of all-time. This ace pitched for the Baltimore Orioles from 1965-1984, winning 268 games along the way. Palmer also posted a career ERA of 2.86 and struck out 2,212 batters over the course of his big league career. In 1990 he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame with 92.6% of the vote, making him a first-ballot inductee.
This six-time All-Star also won four Gold Glove Awards and was named the American League Pitcher of the Month twice. He also won the American League Cy Young Award in 1973, 1975, and 1976. Palmer also led the American League in wins three times and had the lowest ERA in the league twice. He also played an important role in the Orioles winning three World Series titles in 1966, 1970, and 1983.
