Hanley Ramirez has starred for some of baseball’s most popular teams over more than a decade. Over his remarkable career, Ramirez has been a complete five-tool player with his speed and power. He excels during postseason play, having hit for a .380 batting average over four postseasons with the Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Hanley Ramirez first made a name for himself with the Miami Marlins, where he was named the 2006 NL Rookie of the Year. He was the Marlins team MVP from 2007 through 2009 and was on three straight NL All-Star teams with from 2008 to 2010. As a shortstop, he won the 2008 and 2009 NL Silver Slugger, pacing the entire NL in 2009 with a .342 batting average while also driving in 109 runs. Ramirez has a rare combination of power and speed, having participated in the 2010 Home Run Derby while finishing in the top seven in the NL in stolen bases from 2006 to 2010.
After spending six years with the Miami Marlins, Hanley Ramirez switched coasts to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Following the 2014 season, Ramirez signed a lucrative contract to return to the Boston Red Sox. He reinvented himself by playing new positions like left field and designated hitter, thus endearing himself to Red Sox Nation. Hanley Ramirez also enjoyed feasting on AL pitching, coming in fifth place in 2016 with 111 RBIs.
