Eric Dickerson is one of the greatest running backs in NFL history, most known for his record of most rushing yards in a single season. Dickerson went to Southern Methodist University to play college football, where he was an All-American prior to being a first-round draft pick by the Rams. In 1983, in his first season in the NFL, Dickerson won the Rookie of the Year award, the NFC Offensive Player of the Year award was named to the Pro Bowl, first-team All-Pro and led the league in rushing yards with 1,808 yards. Those rushing yards were a record for any rookie running back. The following season Dickerson achieved all of the accolades again but improved upon his own personal numbers. The running back averaged 5.6 yards per carry and rushed for an NFL-record 2,105 yards in the 1994 season.

Eric Dickerson was unstoppable early in his career and continues to be a legend with the Rams. The six-time Pro Bowler was named first-team All-Pro five times and led the league in rushing two more times, after his first couple of seasons, for a total of four times. In 1986, Dickerson won the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year award and in 1999 Dickerson was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
