They are the athletic teams that are representing the Washington State University in the Pacific-10 Conference. The Washington State Cougars are taking part as well in the Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. There are nine sports teams for women that are included in the Washington State Cougars and there are six varsity sports teams for men that encompass the Washington State Cougars. The mascot of the team is named as Butch T. Cougar and the colors that are representing them are gray and crimson. In addition, the first national championship of the team was earned by Roy Petragallo and Ed McKinnon and it was in the season of 1937 wherein they were able to win the NCAA boxing championship. The team’s track and field was able to win also the NCAA Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship. The Washington State Cougars is currently under Bill Moos, he is the athletics director of the team.
