
Historical Yogi Berra Milestones
Yogi Berra is undoubtedly one of the top two catchers in the history of Major League Baseball. Berra is a New York Yankees legend who played for the Yankees from 1946-1963. After retiring from playing baseball in 1965 Berra went on to the manage the Yankees during two different stints. In 1972 Berra was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame after capturing 85.6% of the vote.
During Berra’s playing career he was a part of an incredible 10 World Series titles for the Yankees, more than any other player in Major League Baseball’s storied history. This 18-time All-Star also won the 1951, 1954, and 1955 American League MVP Awards. While playing in the big leagues Berra hit 358 home runs, drove in 1,430 baserunners, and had 2,150 hits. In commemoration of Berra’s MLB career, the Yankees retired his No. 8 jersey and was also named to the Major League Baseball All-Century Team.
