Historical Troy Aikman Milestones
Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman is one of the most accomplished players in NFL history, leading the Dallas Cowboys to three Super Bowl Championships during his illustrious 12-year career. Aikman completed a noteworthy college football career as a member of the UCLA Bruins and led them to a 20-4 record in two years as a starter. After winning the 1988 Davey O'Brien Award as the nation's top collegiate quarterback, Troy Aikman was selected first overall by Jimmy Johnson and the Dallas Cowboys in 1989 NFL Draft. In just his second professional football game, Aikman threw his first career touchdown to Michael Irvin for a glimpse of things to come. Despite the franchise struggling to find an identity during his early years in the NFL, Troy Aikman blossomed into a star that would become a legend of the game. Surrounded by fellow members of the Dallas Cowboys with talent in the form of Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, and other football greats, the former quarterback would lead Dallas to three Super Bowl Championships during the mid-1990s. Teamed with Irvin and Smith, the trio became the core of one of the most unstoppable offensive forces in football history known as “The Triplets”. In 1992, Aikman broke Joe Montana’s longstanding record with 89 passes without an interception while leading the Cowboys to their first Super Bowl since 1979. After completing 273 yards and four touchdowns, Troy Aikman was named Super Bowl MVP for his contributions to the Cowboys victory over the Bills. With the aid of Emmitt Smith, Aikman took the Dallas Cowboys to a second Super Bowl victory during the following season. After falling short in the NFC Championship the year after, Troy Aikman put the Cowboys back in the Super Bowl during the 1995 season and brought another Lombardi Trophy back to Dallas for his third Super Bowl title in four years.
Troy Aikman's legacy as the one of the greatest signal callers in NFL history developed during his 12 years as a professional football player and was acknowledged in 2006 when the great quarterback was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. As a six-time Pro Bowl selection and Super Bowl XXVII MVP, authentic Troy Aikman signed collectibles are essential for true Dallas Cowboys fans and serious sports collectors. Great assets for every Cowboys fan around the world, I've compiled my five favorite Troy Aikman memorabilia for the serious football collector.
