About Vanderbilt Commodores Autographed Mini Helmets
The Vanderbilt Commodores men’s basketball started on the 7th of February 1893. The first game they played led a record of 9-6 victory. The team they played with was the Nashville YMCA. This event made it the first ever basketball game that was played by a team in the collegiate division. However, this did not result to immediate popularity for the team. It only did so by the beginning of December 1900. It was the time when the team formally formed a basketball team, which was first coached by W.D. Weatherford. The first game played by the team after its formation was against the Nashville YMCA and the Nashville Athletic Club.
Success was experienced by the team in the modern time started after hiring Bob Polk to lead the team. He was also the first full-time coach the team had. He was the one who recruited Billy Joe Adcock, the first All-American from the team. By 21st Century, the team successfully produced important players like Russell Lakey, Corey Smith, Julian Terrell, Derrick Byars and many more. As significant players, signed items from them were produced. The items are featured at the store.
