About New York Islanders Autographed Memorabilia & Collectibles

Historical Milestones

The New York Islanders play in the Metropolitan Division, part of the NHL’s Eastern Conference. The franchise began before the 1972-1973 season and now calls the Barclays Center in Brooklyn home. The Islanders have made more than 20 playoff appearances, winning four consecutive Stanley Cup trophies from 1980 to 1983. Soon after the birth of the franchise, the New York Islanders methodically acquired the players who would make up their dynasty of the early 1980s. Goalie Billy Smith was drafted in 1972 and Islanders players would win three Calder Trophies in five years (Denis Potvin, Bryan Trottier, and Mike Bossy). The Isles would first take home the Stanley Cup in 1980 as Bryan Trottier won the Conn Smythe Trophy. They would beat the “Broad Street Bullies” aka the Philadelphia Flyers, with Bob Nystrom tipping in a goal in overtime of Game 6 to end the series. In 1981, New York would repeat as champs, defeating the Minnesota North Stars in five games. The Islanders would set records in 1982, winning 15 straight games in the regular season and then sweeping the Vancouver Canucks in the finals, becoming the first American team to capture three straight Stanley Cups. Matched up against the Edmonton Oilers in the 1983 finals, the Isles won their four-consecutive championship. Billy Smith would claim the Conn Smythe Trophy for continually stopping Wayne Gretzky and company.

New York would fall to Edmonton in the finals the next year, but their dynasty saw them win 19 consecutive playoff series wins, an almost unfathomable streak in professional sports. In 2009-2010, John Tavares would make his debut with the team. The team was further bolstered before the 2014-2015 when the Islanders signed goalie Jaroslav Halak and traded for Johnny Boychuk. The next season would be the Islanders first in their new home in Brooklyn. With stars like Mathew Barzal leading the team, the future is indeed bright for the Isles. Islanders fans are a passionate bunch and autographed memorabilia from the team is always in demand.

The New York Islanders have both a tradition of excellence and a bright future ahead of them. From legends like Mike Bossy, Denis Potvin and Bryan Trottier to current stars like John Tavares and Mathew Barzal, Islanders fans are always eager to collect signed memorabilia from their favorite players. Autographed Isles collectibles are a smart bet to keep going up in value, as the team is poised to add another championship to their trophy case. Whether a gift for yourself or a friend, signed New York Islanders sticks, pucks and jerseys make for the perfect addition to one’s collection.
