They were member of the American Basketball Association for all of the league’s nine years. The Kentucky Colonels were based in Louisville, Kentucky. Their arena was in Freedom Hall for the final six seasons that they have from the start of 1970 to 1971 season. In the 1976 ABA-NBA merger, the team did not join the National Basketball Association. The first owner of the team was Don Regan and that was in the 1967 season when the team was established. The Kentucky Colonels started their career in the ABA as one of the colorful franchise. For the first season that they have, dog is a part of their logo. In the ABA, the team was able to win 448 games and this is more victory compare to any other team or franchise. The team’s first arena was in the Louisville Convention Center where they played from 1967 to 1970. From 1967 to 1970, the team’s colors are white and chartreuse and from 1970 to 1976, their team colors are blue, red and white.
