The California Golden Seals is a team in the National Hockey League from 1967 up to the seasons of 1976. They are named initially as the California Seals. After that, the team was then renamed to Oakland Seals. Moreover, from the Oakland Seals it was then renamed again as the California Golden Seals in the 1970.
NHL announced that six expansion teams in 1966 would be in addition to the new division for the 1967 to 1968 season. In that season, they joined the NHL. In 1971 to 1972, the team was rebounded. The California Golden Seals is based in Oakland, California and they are playing their home games at the Oakland- Alameda County Coliseum Arena. The last player of the California Golden Seals that remained active in the NHL was Dennis Maruk. He is also a member of the Minnesota North Stars. In 1976, they were moved to Cleveland and then later named as the Cleveland Barons.
