About Super Bowl XLII (42)
On February 3, 2008 AFC champs, the New York Giants, took on the NFC champions, the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. Occurring at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale Arizona, Super Bowl 42 is regarded as one of the biggest upsets in the history of the NFL. Entering the game as the 12-point favorite, the undefeated Patriots were on the hunt to become the first team since the ’72 Miami Dolphins to have a perfect season from start to finish, including a Super Bowl win. Keeping it tight throughout, the Giants came to victory after a fourth-quarter game-winning drive involving QB Eli Manning and the incredible helmet catch credited to David Tyree. The Giants went on to be named Super Bowl XLII Champs with their quarterback, Eli Manning, taking the Super Bowl MVP title.
