Ron Jaworski- aka “Jaws” – was a multi-sport star in high school. He was offered a professional baseball offer from the St. Louis Cardinals; however, he prioritized his education and enrolled at Youngstown State University. His offensive skills immediately were recognized and he earned the nickname “Rifle Ron.” Ron Jaworski was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the second round of the 1973 NFL Draft.

It took Ron Jaworski some time to adapt to the league, but despite his shaky performances, overtime he soon showed tremendous talent and became one of the league’s starting quarterbacks. After his time playing for the Rams and enjoying a playoff win, he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. The former Youngstown State superstar joined Philadelphia in 1977 after four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. Jaws dominated the City of Brotherly Love, taking home Pro Bowl and MVP honors in 1980 and being inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame in 1992.Jaworski’s season came in 1980 when he was named the UPI “NFL Player of the Year,” and won the Bert Bell Award, the Professional Athlete of the Year award, and the Maxwell Football Club’s Professional Player of the Year award. Ron Jaworski will forever be remembered for his regular season touchdowns. He ultimately finished his career with 116 consecutive starts as a QB and with 170 regular season touchdowns with the Philadelphia Eagles – one of the most in NFL history.
