About Yolanda Griffith Autographed Memorabilia & Collectibles
Yolanda Evette Griffith is a retired Women’s National Basketball Association player. Born on March 1, 1970, she went to George Washington High School where she played high school basketball. She was included to the All-American basketball team of the Parade Magazine and was presented a scholarship to University of Iowa to play college basketball. However, she declined the offer because she delivered Candace, her daughter. Soon, she went to Palm Beach Junior College and later on moved to Florida Atlantic University where she was named Player of the Year of Kodak Division II.
She joined American Basketball League in 1997 via the 1997 ABL Draft and played for the Long Beach Stingrays. She became the ABL Defensive Player of the Year for 1997-1998 and the Most Valuable Player of the Year in 1998. After her stint with the Stingrays, she played very shortly for the Chicago Condors.
Reviews say she entered WNBA in 1990 when she was selected by the Sacramento Monarchs as second overall pick in the WNBA Draft. She was named to the All-Star seven times and was awarded as the MVP in 1999. She spent nine seasons with the Monarchs and transferred to Seattle Storm in 2008. She had only one year with the Storm and afterwards, joined the Indiana Fever. She retired in 2009 and is currently the Player Development Coach of the Indiana Fever.
