Tim Brown was one of the greatest players in the history of the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders franchise. Before becoming an NFL superstar, Brown made a name for himself at the University of Notre Dame. At Notre Dame, he earned the nickname “Touchdown Timmy” for his ability to get in the end zone on any play. Brown was deployed as an all over weapon as he returned kick, punts, ran out of the backfield and of course did a bulk of his work at wide receiver. In his junior season, Brown set a record with 1,937 all-purpose yards. Then in his senior season, Brown became the first wide receiver to ever win the Heisman Trophy and he finished his career with a Notre Dame record 5,024 all-purpose yards. In the 1988 NFL Draft, Tim Brown was selected with the sixth pick by the Los Angeles Raiders.
Brown did not quite burst on the scene into the No. 1 wide receiver that he would eventually become, although he was productive having two Pro Bowl seasons in his first five seasons. Still, his true breakout season came in 1993, the first of nine straight 1,000 yard seasons, and the first of five straight Pro Bowls. Brown’s best season came in 1997 when he led the league with a career-high 104 receptions for 1,408 yards. Following that season, Brown was named first-team All-Pro. Tim Brown spent 16 seasons with the Raiders franchise and gained over 18,000 all-purpose yards during that time. In 2015, he was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, six years after he had been inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame.
