Historical Sidney Crosby Milestones
No name in the sport of hockey is more recognizable today than Sidney Crosby. This immensely successful Pittsburgh Penguins center is arguably the game's best player. "The Next One" has been tearing up the ice since the age of three and his talent shows it. Before his 2005 first round NHL Draft selection, Crosby soared to the top of junior level hockey having to play in older age groups because his skill exceeded his own age. Hall of Famer Wayne "The Great One" Gretzky has even claimed that if anyone were to beat his records, it would be Sidney Crosby. The bar was set extremely high for the Penguins 1st overall draft pick and Crosby didn't disappoint. In his first season as a rookie, Crosby scored over 100 points and was named to the NHL All-Rookie First Team. Sid the Kid's hockey career hasn't slowed down since. While still a teenager in his second season Crosby took home the Art Ross, Hart Memorial and Ted Lindsay trophies. Along with his impressive hardware, Sidney Crosby has led the Penguins to a 2009 Stanley Cup victory, the first for the franchise since the early 1990s, accomplishing the feat in 2016 and 2017, earning two Hart Memorial Trophies, six All-Star selections and two Conn Smythe Trophy along the way, the most recent coming after the nail-biting 2017 Stanley Cup Championship series.
The league leader in total scoring in 2007 and 2014, The Next One has brought Pittsburgh back to former glory, all the while Sidney Crosby has become a household name for NHL fans around the world and there's no slowing down for this star. Crosby is shaping up to be one of, if not, the best player of all-time. Stanley Cup champion Sidney Crosby memorabilia is a must have for all sports fans and should be done now before this All-Star soars past Gretzky's impressive records.
