Shea Hillenbrand is a former Major League Baseball player who last appeared with the Los Angeles Dodgers during the 2007 season. Hillenbrand also played in the Atlantic League for the York Revolution and is from Mesa, Arizona. He went to Mountain View High School and played both baseball and soccer. Hillenbrand decided to attend Mesa Community College before making the leap to professional baseball after being drafted by the Boston Red Sox during the 1996 amateur draft.
Hillenbrand first played for the Lowell Spinners in the New York-Pennsylvania League during the 1996 season and then to the Sarasota Red Sox in the Florida State League. Hillenbrand also played for the Michigan Battle Cats in the Midwest League and the Trenton Thunder in the Eastern League before he was able to join the Red Sox team during the 2001 season. Hillenbrand was able to play for the team during the opening day. During his rookie year, Hillenbrand had problems batting with power but he was able to improve significantly during the 2004 season and was named into the All-Star Game as a starting third baseman.
Hillenbrand was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks and then to the Toronto Blue Jays. Hillenbrand was also named into the All-Star Game two times.
