Robin Yount spent his entire 20-year career as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers and is considered one of the greatest Brewers of all-time due to his success and longevity. Yount was selected with the third overall pick the 1973 MLB Draft and made his debut the following season at the age of 18. Yount was a great defensive player and table setter in the Brewers lineup. Coming up as a shortstop, he played a majority of his career at shortstop and in center field.
In 1982, Yount had his best season as he hit .331, with career-highs 210 hits and 114 RBI. He also stole 14 bases and hit 29 home runs that year, winning his second of three Silver Sluggers and his only Gold Glove in route to his first MVP award. Yount was once again the league MVP in the 1989 season, as he hit 21 home runs, stole 19 bases, had 103 RBI and hit .318. Over the course of his 20-year career, Yount had 3,142 hits, 1,406 RBI and scored 1,632 runs. He also hit 251 home runs and stole 271 bases, was a three-time All-Star and Silver Slugger winner. In 1999, on Yount’s first time on the ballot, he was inducted in the Hall of Fame.
