An excellent catcher from Newark, New Jersey, Richard Aldo Cerone or better known as Rick Cerone was born on May 19, 1954. He had long been playing in the major league baseball and during his career period and he was able to establish a record of .245 batting average, 436 runs batted in as well as 59 home runs. He came from Essex Catholic High School where he had his early beginning playing in his varsity team for both football and baseball.
Among the teams he had been with in MLB were the Cleveland Indians
, Toronto Blue Jays as well as the New York Yankees
in 1980. He was taken in by the said team following the loss of an exceptional player from the Yankees, Thurman Munson
. It was with the said group also that he had caught so many acknowledgements by fans and sports commentators. At such time he was playing back to back with Butch Wynegar.
