Historical Milestones

Paul Pierce is one of the best players in the history of the iconic organization, the Boston Celtics. Pierce was McDonald’s All-American in high school and was an All-American at Kansas University. During his time in College, Pierce was the MVP of the Big-12 tournament twice and scored 777 points his junior season, fifth-most in a single season at Kansas. Pierce left after his junior season to enter the 1998 NBA Draft and was selected by the Boston Celtics as the 10th overall pick. Prior to the 2007-08 season, Pierce was finally given teammates on par with his All-Star talent when the Celtics acquired Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett to form a “Big Three”. The Celtics had the biggest single-season turnaround in NBA history as they improved 42 games to win 66 leading the Eastern Conference in the first year of “The Big Three”. In the Conference semifinals, the Cavaliers took the Celtics to a seven-game series. In Game 7, Pierce scored the second-most points in a Game 7 in franchise history when he put up 41 leading them to victory. The Celtics ended up squaring off against the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals that year. Pierce averaged 22 points per game in the Finals as the Celtics won the series in six games, with Pierce being named the Finals MVP. Nicknamed “The Truth”, Pierce spent 15 seasons in Boston before being traded along with Kevin Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets.
