About Mike Reid Autographed Memorabilia & Collectibles
Mike Reid is a former professional football player who hails from Altoona, Pennsylvania. He played as part of the defensive line in Pennsylvania State University where he worked under the supervision of Coach Joe Paterno. He bagged the Outland Trophy in the 1969 season and the Maxwell Award in that same year for being the greatest player in the college football scene. He finished his senior year in the Penn State with 89 tackles and became the fifth nominee in the Heisman Trophy award. He was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in the 1987 season and was also named as the Alumnus of the Year in the Walter Camp. He also took home the Silver Anniversary Award in NCAA.
His professional career started with the Cincinnati Bengals which selected him in the National Football League Draft in the 1970 season. He made records for recording the greatest pass rushers and logged 12 sacks that season. He logged a leading record again for making 13 sacks and was included to the All-Pro team by the Newspaper Enterprise Association. He was also named to the All-AFC for the third time.
However, reviews say he had a faded 1974 season after he acquired injuries and made only seven sacks. During his last season in the National Football League, he was named to the All-AFC team by the Pro Football Weekly. He also has the chance to play in the Pro Bowl in 1972 and the 1973 seasons.
