Khalil Thabit Greene is a professional baseball player who was born on October 21, 1979 in Butler, Pennsylvania. He was a third baseman in Key West High School where he played 69 games. A right-handed batter and thrower, he had an imposing senior career in his college baseball and was even named as National Player of the Year by the Collegiate Baseball. Greene was also selected as a member of the All-America First Team by Baseball America. Other recognitions he received in his senior year were the ACC Player of the Year award and the Dick Howser Trophy as well as the Rotary Smith Award.
He ended his college career with a school record of most number of bases and highest RBI. He entered Major League Baseball in 2002 when he was selected by the San Diego Padres as thirteenth overall pick in the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft. His first appearance on the league was on September 3, 2003. He played in one full season in 2004 and was named as Baseball America’s Rookie of the Year.
Greene also played for St. Louis Cardinals and became a free agent with the Texas Rangers in 2010 but was later on released by the team because of a voided contract.
He has a record of .245 batting average, 90 home runs and 352 runs batted in as of 2009.
