Kemba Walker was a McDonald’s All-American before going to college at the UConn. In his freshman season, Walker started just two games but helped the Huskies go to the 2009 Final Four by scoring 23 points in the Elite Eight game. Walker was named to the Big East All-Rookie team for his efforts. In his junior season in 2011, everything clicked for Walker, as he was the nation’s leading scorer through 12 games with an average of 26.7 points per game. Walker led the Huskies to a Big East Championship by setting a record for scoring 130 points, most ever in the tournament. He later led his team to an NCAA Championship and was named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player along with winning the Bob Cousy Award for most outstanding college point guard.
Following his standout season at UConn, Kemba entered the 2011 NBA Draft and was selected ninth overall by the Charlotte Bobcats, now the Charlotte Hornets. Walker has improved with every season in the NBA, going from his rookie year in which he averaged 12.1 points, to when took over the role of starting point guard in his sophomore season and averaged 17.7 points and eventually becoming an All-Star. Since the 2015-16 season, Walker has been the clear-cut leader for the Charlotte Hornets in every way including being a 20 point per game scorer and a two-time All-Star.
