Juwan Howard is an athlete who hails from Chicago, Illinois and was born in 1973. He plays in the National Basketball Association as a power forward and joined the league in 1974 as a Washington Bullets selection. In college, he became part of the Wolverines; Fab Five in University of Michigan. Their team made it to two consecutive NCAA Finals and Howard was considered a significant part of the success. Before his phenomenal basketball career in college, he played for a vocational school in Chicago where he joined the McDonalds All-American team as well as the Parade magazine’s All-American selection in 1991. He also became a member of the Honor Society and was featured in a basketball documentary entitled Hoop Dreams.
At 6 ft. 9 in. and 253 lbs, he started playing professionally in 1994. He played for a number of NBA teams such as the Dallas Mavericks from 2001-2002 and in 2007 to 2008 seasons. He also became part of the Denver Nuggets and the Orlando Magic. Aside from these teams, he also joined the Houston Rockets, the Charlotte Bobcats and the Portland Trail Blazers. Howard played in the NBA All-Star in 1996 and in that year joined the All-NBA Third team. In 1995, he was included in the NBA All-Rookie Second team. He spent 16 great playing periods in the league and recorded 19.3 PPG in his first five seasons for the team. He is currently part of the Portland Trail Blazers.
