About Joe Watson Autographed Memorabilia & Collectibles
Joseph John Watson was born on July 6, 1946 in Smithers, British Columbia and is a retired defense man for professional ice hockey. He has 2 Stanley Cups in his win column.
Prior to going professional, he played junior hockey for Estevan Bruins in 1962 to 1963. He went to the professional league by joining the Minneapolis Bruins of the Central Hockey League a year later. His first team for the NHL was the Boston Bruins and his hard work was rewarded with a full- time spot as a 6th and 7th defense man in the team. He was then sent to the Philadelphia Flyers where he proved to be very useful as a rearguard. He and his younger brother Jim were with the team when they won their 2 consecutive Stanley Cups. He was then sent to the Colorado Rockies where he was expected to teach the rookies a thing or two about defense. In a game against St. Louis, Watson was involved in an accident that left him with a permanently disabled leg. This incident ended his ice hockey career.
