Javier Carlos Vasquez, also known as Javier Vasquez, was born on July 25, 1976 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was a former major league baseball player and right now, he is a pitcher for the New York Yankees. He first played at the MLB when he was picked by the Montreal Expos in the amateur draft of the year 1994. As a rookie, he was able to play thirty two games and pitched a total of 172 innings. He had become the ace player of the Montreal Expos in the year 2000 and he pitches 200 more innings in four seasons.
On December 2003, he was acquired by the New York Yankees as an exchange for Juan Rivera, Nick Johnson and Randy Choate. He signed a deal for four years that will end in 2007. However, when the team lost to the Boston Red Sox, Vasquez, together with Brad Halsey and D. Navarro was traded for Randy Johnson to the Arizona Diamondbacks. After playing as a pitcher in the 2005 game season, he requested a leave for he wanted to be with his family in Puerto Rico. When he made a comeback in the 2008, he was playing for the Chicago White Sox. He also played for the Puerto Rican team in the World Baseball Classic in the year 2006 with other Puerto Rican players like Carlos Beltran and Carlos Delgado.
