George Springer is a once in a generation player. Springer is a center fielder for the Houston Astros and is one of the league’s most dynamic offensive and defensive players. In 2011 Springer was drafted with the eleventh overall pick in the MLB Draft by the Astros out of the University of Connecticut. While playing for the Connecticut Huskies, Springer was named the Big East Player of the Year and a Baseball America Second-Team All-American.
As a member of the Astros’ minor league system George Springer was named a MILB.com Organizational All-Star numerous times and to the 2013 All-Star Futures Game. Since joining the major league roster, Springer has displayed impressive home run power, hitting over 30 home runs in a single season and has shown off incredible range as a center fielder. Springer made an immediate impact in the big leagues being named the May 2014 American League Rookie of the Month and the American League Player of the Week. Recognized as an All-Star in 2017, he has one of the brightest futures in the league. To finish off his All-Star 2017 season, Springer was one of the key factors that led to the Astros World Series victory. As the offensive catalyst for the Astros, Springer also showed off his exceptional range out in centerfield as he made many spectacular plays throughout the postseason. George Springer was at the forefront of the Astros postseason run that saw them claim their first World Series title in franchise history and also took home the World Series MVP as he hit five home runs in the Series.
