This legend of the game had 306 home runs, 1,111 RBIs, and scored 1,063 runs during his seventeen seasons in the majors. Prior to making his debut in Major League Baseball, he was one of the most decorated players in college baseball history, leading the USC Trojans to National Championships in 1971, 1972, and 1973.
While playing for the Red Sox he won the American League Rookie of the Year and American League MVP Awards in 1975, batting .331 that season with 21 home runs and 105 RBIs. In 1979 he won the AL Batting Title with a .339 batting average. In 1982 as a member of the California Angels he won the ALCS MVP, in a series loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, becoming the first player in history to win the award on the losing team.
