Evander Hollyfield is an American professional boxer who became a champion for different weight divisions. Hollyfield is famous for being the bitten in the ear by Mike Tyson during their The Sound and The Fury fight in 1997. Hollyfield was born in Atmore, Alabama but grew up in Atlanta where he learned how to box. He was qualified to participate in the Junior Olympics at the age of 13. He was 20 when he competed for the United States in the 1983 Pan American games in Venezuela and brought home the silver medal. He also competed in the 1984 Summer Olympic Games and got the bronze medal.
Hollyfield first started out in the light-heavyweight division after he beat Lionel Byarm in the sixth round of their 1984 Madison Square Garden match. Hollyfield was able to defend his title for three more fights before deciding to move up to Cruiserweight. Hollyfield went up against Tyrone Booze for the title and took the win after eight rounds. After fighting and defeating Carlos De Leon who was then the defending WBC world champion, Hollyfield decided to move up again to the heavyweight Division. Currently, Hollyfield has racked up 43 wins, 10 losses and 2 draws.
