David Ross is a former catcher he played for 15 seasons on various teams in the MLB. Ross played college baseball at Auburn University and the University of Florida making it to two College World Series before being drafted to the MLB. Ross played for seven different teams in his career including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Cubs.
While Ross spent more time with other organizations and had more personal success, he is most known for his time as the backup catcher on the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs. Before the 2013 season, Ross signed a two-year deal with the Red Sox to be their backup catcher. Nearly a year after he signed, Ross was catching the final out of Game 6 of the World Series as the Red Sox won their third World Series in ten years. Ross was a big factor in the series as he hit the game-winning RBI double in Game 5.
Through his time in Boston, Ross developed a close friendship with star pitcher Jon Lester becoming his personal catcher. So, when Lester signed a massive contract with the Cubs following the 2014 season, Ross followed him to Chicago to continue to be his personal catcher. Ross became a fan favorite with the Cubs in 2016 as he announced that he would retire after the season. He was dubbed “Grandpa Rossy” by his teammates which turned him into the most famous backup catcher in baseball. In Game 7 of the World Series, Ross hit a home run making him the oldest player in World Series history to accomplish that feat. The Cubs would win that game and Ross had his second ring in the last four years of his career. We offer incredible autographed collectibles from every part of David Ross’ illustrious careers.
