Historical Milestones
Braden Holtby is a Canadian goaltender for the Washington Capitals. Holtby was drafted by the Caps in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft with the 93rd overall selection. After playing sparingly in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, Holtby began to play a good amount of games for Washington in 2012-13 before becoming the primary goaltender a year later. Holtby’s best season came in 2015-16 when he had a record of 48-9-7 while saving .922 percent of goals attempted. For his great work that year, Holtby was awarded the Vezina Trophy for best goaltender in the NHL.
As the goaltender for the Capitals, Braden Holtby has been awarded many accolades. He played in the All-Star game in 2016 and 2017, was named to the NHL First All-Star team in 2016, Second All-Star team in 2017 and Third All-Star team in 2018. Holtby also won the William M. Jennings Trophy in 2017 for being part of the team that gave up the least amount of goals in a season.
