Historical Arnold Palmer Milestones
Arnold Palmer is an American and golfing icon. Palmer was one of the most accomplished and decorated golfers of all-time. This World Golf Hall of Famer is a name that golf fans will never forget. Arnold Palmer emerged as a sports hero in the 1960s and played a major role in popularizing the game of golf worldwide. Known as “The Big Three”, Palmer along with Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player dominated the sport for several decades. In 1960 and 1962 Arnold Palmer was named the PGA Player of the Year and in 1960, the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year. Palmer was also a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2004 which is the highest honor a civilian in the United States can receive. Despite his 2016 death at the 87, Arnold Palmer’s impact on society will forever be fondly remembered for countless years to come.
During Arnold Palmer’s career as a professional golfer he won seven major titles. Palmer won the Masters Tournament four times, the U.S. Open once, the Open Championship twice and the PGA Championship three times. In addition to those accomplishments Palmer had a total of 62 PGA Tour wins and led the Tour in money won four times. Even though Arnold Palmer is a golf legend, he may be best known to some because of his world famous drink, “The Arnold Palmer”. This half lemonade and half iced tea beverage is consumed by people all over the world and can be purchased in stores almost anywhere.
