It all began in his college years. Once he was awarded the Most Valuable Player for a regional tournament in 1986. It then led to him getting into the major league. He became part of the Silver Slugger Team in 1993 to 1998. He played in the All Star games in 1993 to 1997. He participated in the Home Run Derby in 1993 where he landed 6th, 1994 where he landed 7th, and 1995 where he landed 2nd. In 1995, he was the leader of homeruns for his team then in slugging percentage in 1998.
This athlete pioneered 50 homeruns and doubles in the year 1995. In the same year, he became the “Player of the Year” for The Sporting News magazine. He was also nominated for Cleveland’s Roberto Clemente Award in years 1993 and 1994. He was a leader to the major leagues in the 90s decade with RBIs of 1,099. He emerged to becoming the 4th athlete being able to hit eight consecutive seasons with 30 homeruns and RBIs of 100 in 1999.
