Since Al Horford has been an All-Star player in the NBA for over a decade, people forgot that he had a decorated collegiate career prior to going pro. Horford was part of Billy Donovan’s University of Florida team from 2004-2007. Al teamed up with other long-time NBA players like Joakim Noah and Corey Brewer on a team that won the NCAA Tournament in back to back years in 2006 and 2007. In his junior season, Horford nearly averaged a double-double with 13.2 points and 9.5 rebounds. He entered the 2007 NBA Draft as a surefire lottery pick and ended up going third overall to the Atlanta Hawks.
Horford spent nine seasons leading the Atlanta Hawks, who made the playoffs in every season for which he was on the team, as the big man was named an All-Star four times over that span. Over the course of his career, Horford has averaged over 10 points a game every season, along with nearly 10 rebounds a game, making him one of the better big man in the Eastern Conference. Prior to the 2016-17 season, Horford became an unrestricted free agent and signed a four-year $113 million deal with the Boston Celtics.
