About Philadelphia Flyers Autographed Memorabilia & Collectibles

Historical Milestones

The Philadelphia Flyers are an NHL team that plays in the Metropolitan Division, as part of the Eastern Conference. Making their home in the Wells Fargo Center, the Flyers have won Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975. The Flyers joined the NHL as part of the NHL’s expansion before the 1967-1968 season. Two years later, Bobby Clarke made his debut as a rookie and was also named to the NHL All-Star team. The 1973-1974 season saw the debut of the Philadelphia Flyers as the “Broad Street Bullies”, led by enforcer Dave Schultz. Bernie Parent became one of the NHL’s top goalies as the team reached their first Stanley Cup Finals. Skating against the Boston Bruins, Parent would post a 1-0 shutout in Game 6 in front of a raucous home crowd as Parent won the Conn Smythe Trophy and the Flyers won the title. Philadelphia would win the division again the next year with an NHL-best 51 wins. They would eliminate the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Islanders in the playoffs to reach their second straight Cup Final. Game 6 was on the Buffalo Sabres home ice, but the result was the same as last year, as the Flyers became back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions. Bernie Parent won his second straight Conn Smythe Trophy with a shutout in the deciding game, setting a playoff record with his fifth shutout of the postseason. The Flyers would win their third straight division title in 1975-1976 as Bobby Clarke won his third Hart Trophy in four years. They would reach the Stanley Cup Finals for the third consecutive year but were swept by the Montreal Canadiens.

The Flyers were able to recapture the division title in the 1979-1980 season as they set an NHL-record with a 35-game unbeaten streak. The Flyers would reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 1985 but lost to the Edmonton Oilers in five games. In 1987, Philly fell to the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Finals. In 1988-1989, the team made the playoffs for the 17th straight season. Talented players like Rick Tocchet and Rod Brind’Amour would lead the Flyers into the 1990s. After the 1992 season, Philadelphia would trade a package including Ron Hextall, Mark Ricci and Peter Forsberg for rising star Eric Lindros. The club would re-acquire Hextall in 1994-1995 and trade for John LeClair, who formed the “Legion of Doom” line with Hart Trophy-winner Lindros and Mikael Renberg. The Flyers would win the division that year and reached the Eastern Conference Finals. In 1996-1997, Philadelphia would beat the New York Rangers in the conference finals to reach their first Stanley Cup Finals in ten years. Philadelphia would next reach the Eastern Conference Finals after the 2007-2008 season but could not get past the Pittsburgh Penguins. The acquisition of Chris Pronger fueled the team in the 2009-2010 season as they skated into the playoffs. They were down three games to none to the Boston Bruins, but Philly would rebound to become the third team ever to win a series after facing such a deficit. The Flyers reached the Stanley Cup Finals, but it was the Chicago Blackhawks who took home the Cup that year.

Philadelphia is known for having passionate fans and those fans love their Flyers. Legends like Bobby Clarke, Bernie Parent, and Ron Hextall have all called Philly home at one point. Current stars like Claude Giroux and Steve Mason lead the team and their signed memorabilia is in high demand. Autographed Philadelphia Flyers gear, from jerseys to sticks, never goes out of style. The Flyers represent Philly just like a cheesesteak from Geno’s, ever since their “Broad Street Bullies” days. Now is the time to pick up some authentic collectibles to celebrate the Flyers two classic Stanley Cups from the 1970s and also be prepared for when they have won their third Cup.
