The San Jose Sharks are an NHL franchise based out of San Jose, California that plays in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. The team was founded as an NHL expansion in 1991, becoming the first hockey team to play in the Bay Area since 1976. The San Jose Sharks currently play their home games at the SAP Center at San Jose, known to fans as the Shark Tank.
Although the Sharks haven't won a Stanley Cup championship, they have taken home six division titles and qualified for the playoffs in each of the past 10 seasons. Despite the fact that the team has not been in existence for too long, a number of Hall of Famers have once worn the teal and black of San Jose, like Ed Belfour, Igor Larionov, and Rob Blake. High scoring superstars like Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton, and Patrick Marleau led the way for San Jose last season, each of the three tallying over 70 points on the season. With a young core of talented players like Tomas Hertl, the Sharks are seeking their 11th consecutive Stanley Cup Playoffs appearance and their first ever NHL title. Clinching the Western Conference Finals in 2016, the Sharks broke records of their own with their phenomenal play and their incredible 2016 Stanley Cup Championship run.
