Columbus Blue Jackets Autographed Memorabilia & Blue Jackets Collectibles

Historical Milestones

The Columbus Blue Jackets are one of the NHL’s newest franchises. Founded in 2000 the Blue Jackets play in the Eastern Conference in the Metropolitan Division. The organization calls Nationwide Arena home and houses over 18,000 fans of the team. In 2009 they made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history and unfortunately this franchise has the distinction of being the only organization in the NHL to have not won a playoff series.

At the 2000 NHL Draft, the Blue Jackets used the fourth overall pick and their first-ever pick as a franchise on Rostislav Klesla. The first few years of the franchise were particularly challenging for the franchise under Head Coach Dave King, with the team struggling to record victories. The Blue Jackets selected Rick Nash with the first overall pick of the 2002 NHL Draft and he played for the team until being traded away in 2012. Nash is the current all-time leader in points and goals scored in franchise history and set the franchise record for goals in a season with 41 during the 2003-2004 season. In 2009 the team qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in history but were quickly dispatched by the Detroit Red Wings, being swept in the first round. After not achieving much success as a franchise they hired John Tortorella to be their head coach, previously he led the Tampa Bay Lightning to a Stanley Cup title in 2004 as their head coach. Under Tortorella during the 2016-2017 and the 2017-2018 NHL season he led them to their winningest seasons in history with 50 and 45 wins respectively. With two-time Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky in net for the team, they are in a position to compete for a Stanley Cup title for many years to come.
