The Rams have one of the most interesting and complicated histories in the NFL. This franchise first got its start in Cleveland and were known as the Cleveland Rams from 1936 until their move to Los Angeles in 1946. While playing in Los Angeles they won two NFL Championships before moving again in 1995, this time to St. Louis. During their stay in St. Louis they won their only Super Bowl title in franchise history when they defeated the Tennessee Titans at Super Bowl XXXIV. After the 2015 NFL season they would relocate again, back to Los Angeles and will soon play their home games at the Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park.
The Rams franchise got off to a rough start on the field in their early years, struggling to produce victories. Quarterback Bob Waterfield led the franchise to an NFL Championships in 1945, the team’s final year in Cleveland. After relocating to L.A. they won another NFL Championship in 1951 this time led by future Hall of Famers Elroy Hirsch and Norm Van Brocklin. The team remained competitive throughout the 1950s and 1960s in large part because of their defensive line which was nicknamed “The Fearsome Foursome”, which included future Hall of Famer Deacon Jones. During the 1970s the Rams were one of the NFL’s most successful franchise winning seven consecutive NFC West Division titles, even reaching the Super Bowl after the 1979 season. Defensive end Jack Youngblood played an important role in the success of the team during that era, being named to the First-Team All-Pro five times. Eric Dickerson was drafted by them with the second overall pick of the 1983 NFL Draft and he would go on to become one of the greatest running backs in NFL history. In 1995 the franchise moved to St. Louis but would move back to L.A. in 2016. While in St. Louis they won their only Super Bowl title in franchise history with Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner being named the MVP of Super Bowl XXXIV. Since moving back to the west coast their future has shown to be incredibly promising with Pro Bowlers Jared Goff and Todd Gurley on their roster.
