About Sacramento Kings Autographed Memorabilia & Collectibles

Historical Milestones

The Sacramento Kings are an NBA team that plays in the Western Conference’s Pacific Division. The Kings play their home games at the Golden 1 Center and are the only professional sports team in the city of Sacramento. The franchise came into the league in 1923 playing in Rochester, New York. When the Kings were in Rochester they played under many names and had little success. They did win the NBA title in 1951 as the Rochester Royals, which is their only Championship to date. After spending 30 plus years in Rochester, the franchise moved first to Cincinnati and then to Kansas City before finally settling in Sacramento back in 1985.

The best era of Kings basketball came in the late 1990s and early 2000s when they were dubbed “The Greatest Show on Court”. That team had drafted point guard Jason Williams, signed Vlade Divac and traded for Chris Webber. The Kings would go on to have many winning seasons and went 55-27 in 2001, going on to win their first playoff series in 20 years against the Suns before being bounced from the playoffs. The following season, the Kings traded Williams for another point guard in Mike Bibby and the team was even more successful. They won a league-best 61 games and made it one game shy of going to the NBA Finals. The Kings lost to the Shaq and Kobe led Lakers in Game 7 of the Western Conference in one of the most tightly contested and remembered series’ in NBA history. In recent memory, the best player that the Kings have had is DeMarcus Cousins. Known by his nickname “Boogie”, Cousins basically averaged a double-double in every season except for his rookie one with Sacramento, scoring over 25 points per game in his last two years with the team. In the middle of the 2016-17 season, Cousins was traded to the Pelicans in a package that brought the Kings back Tyreke Evans, Buddy Hield, and Langston Galloway. Hield is the only one of those three still on the roster and is one of the building blocks of the team, along with fellow guard De’Aaron Fox.
