Historical Milestones
The Minnesota Twins are an MLB team that plays in the American League Central division. The team was originally founded in 1901 as the Washington Senators. They were one of the first eight teams in the American League. In 1961, the team was relocated to Minnesota and became the Twins. The Twins currently play their home games in Target Field since 2010. The Senators won their first World Series in 1924 with Hall of Famers Goose Goslin, Bucky Harris, Walter Johnson, and Sam Rice. While in Washington this would be the only World Series that they won, but they won two other pennants in 1925 and 1933.
In 1965 the new founded Twins would go on to win their first pennant in Minnesota behind the lead of future Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew. In 1987, the Twins won their first World Series in Minnesota over the Cardinals with Bert Blyleven and Kirby Puckett leading the way. Their final World Series win came in 1991 when Jack Morris turned in a historic performance. Morris won the World Series MVP after pitching one of greatest performances of all-time in Game 7. The Twins won the game 1-0 in the 10th inning and Morris pitched all ten shutout innings. That performance may have been one of the main reason that Jack Morris was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2018.
Minnesota had great teams in the 2000s winning the division six times during that decade. The Twins had great hitters throughout that decade like Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, Michael Cuddyer and Torii Hunter as well as ace pitcher Johan Santana, who was probably the best pitcher in baseball during his time in Minnesota. Currently, the Twins feature a roster with ace Jose Berrios, sluggers Miguel Sano and Brian Dozier along with defensive whiz Byron Buxton. That group went to the postseason as a Wild Card team in 2017. Twins fans can get great autographed memorabilia that will help them celebrate the history and present of their team.
