About Chicago Cubs Autographed Memorabilia & Collectibles

Historical Chicago Cubs Milestones

The Chicago Cubs are a Major League Baseball team who play their home games at Wrigley Field in the North Side of Chicago. The franchise was a founding member of the National League in 1876 when they were known as the White Stockings, but in 1903 changed their name to the Cubs. Since their inception, the Cubs have always been one of baseball’s most popular teams.

The Cubs franchise was one of the most successful teams in the early part of the 1900’s. They won consecutive World Series’ in 1907 and 1908 and 5 National League pennants (1906, 1907, 1908, 1910, and 1918) in a span of 12 years. However, this tremendous success would not last very long as the Cubs would head down a path of misery for over 100 years. Their true struggles began in the 1945 World Series where the Curse of the Billy Goat was purportedly placed upon them. William Sianis, owner of a local tavern, purchased two box seats for his goat and himself. He was asked to leave because the smell of the goat was offending other fans. As he left the stadium he said “The Cubs, they ain’t gonna win no more.” The Cubs subsequently went on to lose the World Series in 1945 and their world series drought would continue. The following two decades the Cubs were quite unremarkable, in the span between 1947 and 1966, they accomplished only one winning season. The lone bright spot for the club was their All-Star and MVP, Ernie Banks and more affectionately known as “Mr. Cub”. Banks never had the on-field supporting cast necessary for the Cubs to become a contender, especially after they traded future Hall of Famer, Lou Brock, to the rival St. Louis Cardinals.

Then came the late 1960’s where they were finally able to add future Hall of Fame players Ron Santo, Ferguson Jenkins and Billy Williams to play alongside Ernie Banks. Although they made the proper moves to bolster the club, they were still not able to reach the World Series and continued their cursed streak. In the 1970’s they were deemed “the Lovable Losers” by their fans as their losing ways continued and just could not reach their former glory. “The Lovable Losers” moniker has stuck with the Cubs for good reason, because they have had a plethora of great players with the likes of Ryne Sandberg, Rick Sutcliffe, Andre Dawson, Greg Maddux, Mark Grace and Shawn Dunston, who were the main contributors for those 80’s and 90’s teams but all of whom were unable to lead the Cubs back to the promised land. At the turn of the century, the Cubs were optimistic, they had two of the best pitchers in baseball in Kerry Wood and Mark Prior, along with a tremendous supporting cast that included Sammy Sosa, Derrek Lee, and Moises Alou. Nevertheless, the cursed Cubs could never seem to catch a break. In the 2003 NLCS they were 5 outs away from returning to the World Series for the first time since 1945, until a fan by the name of Steve Bartman interfered with a foul ball that Moises Alou was attempting to catch down the left field line. This gave the Marlins new life and they came back to win Game 6 and following that, Game 7 as well. This was the peak of the Cubs despair.

The Cubs saw a lot of transition over next 12 years before finally bringing aboard Theo Epstein as President, Jed Hoyer as General Manager and Joe Madden as Manager. This was considered their rebuilding era where the team was consistently finishing in the basement of the NL but they were stockpiling massive amounts of prospects. This paid off for them terrifically with the likes of Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Addison Russell, Kyle Schwarber, and Javier Baez. This combination of young talent with veteran players like Jon Lester, Jake Arrieta, Dexter Fowler and Jason Heyward propelled the Cubs to the best record in baseball in 2016. Hopes were high for the club as they approached October baseball and the team did not disappoint this time. It took “the Lovable Losers” 108 years, but they finally were World Series Champions again, this time they were the ones coming back from being down three-games-to-one and ending the longest championship drought in American sports.

The Cubs 2016 World Series Championship was one of the most memorable in moments in baseball history and especially for Cubs fans. Honor and celebrate the team that ended the 108 year curse and brought a World Series back to the North Side of Chicago along with greats the former greats who paved the way for them, by owning a piece of this historical team. Our authentic collection of autographed memorabilia by Chicago Cubs legends truly has something for every fan.

Anthony Rizzo Autographed Jersey

The undisputed leader of this Cubs franchise is Anthony Rizzo. Upon his arrival, he has risen to become one the premier first basemen in all of MLB. A 3-time All-Star, Rizzo also led the Cubs to their first World Series since 1908, ending their 108 year drought and breaking the curse. Adding a certified authentic autographed No. 44 Anthony Rizzo classic home white pinstripe jersey or the blue alternate jersey in which they clinched the World Series is essential to any baseball collection. Jake Arrieta Autographed Baseballs

Jake Arrieta had a pedestrian career until he emerged onto the scene after joining the Chicago Cubs in 2013. Since arriving to the North Side, he has thrown two no-hitters (2015 and 2016) and won the NL Cy Young Award in 2015. As the ace of the Cubs staff that already featured Jon Lester and Kyle Hendricks, Arrieta was a vital component in the Cubs ending their 108 year drought and winning the World Series for the first time in 108 years. These certified authentic signed baseballs with the 2016 World Series logo and no-hitter inscriptions are a perfect way to commemorate the great achievements that Arrieta has had since joining the Cubs.
