After Shaq’s departure, Kobe continued to have Hall of Fame caliber seasons and consistently at the top of the league in scoring. The return of nine-time NBA Champion head coach, Phil Jackson in 2006 revived the Lakers' hunt for yet another NBA Championship. Although Los Angeles fell short in the 2008 NBA Finals, Kobe teamed with the acquired, Pau Gasol, and Jackson's Hall of Fame coaching, led the Lakers to win two back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010. During the span of 2008-2010, Kobe won the league MVP in 2008 and Finals MVP in 2009 and 2010.
