Historical John Elway Milestones
John Elway is a NFL legend. Elway was drafted with the first overall pick of the 1983 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Colts but was traded to the Denver Broncos where he played for his entire career. Prior to playing in the NFL, Elway went to Stanford where he was a standout player for the Cardinal, being named the Pac-10 Player of the Year and an All-American in 1982. This all-time great quarterback’s No. 7 jersey has been retired both the Stanford Cardinal and the Denver Broncos.
Elway has the honor of being selected to both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame. During John Elway’s NFL career he earned the nickname “The Comeback Kid” for engineering 47 fourth quarter comeback wins including “The Drive” against the Cleveland Browns in the 1987 AFC title game. This nine-time Pro Bowler threw for an impressive 300 touchdowns and over 50,000 yards and won the 1987 NFL MVP Award. Elway’s finest achievements came in the last two years of his career, winning Super Bowls XXXII and XXXIII.
