To be considered one of the greatest Yankees is something quite honorable; but not only was Joe DiMaggio of the greatest Yankees, he is one of the greatest players of all-time. DiMaggio made his New York debut in 1936 and remained a Yankee for all 13 of his professional baseball life. Thought of as one of the best hitters in MLB history, DiMaggio racked up his impressive statistics in only 13 seasons; which in makes his accomplishments that much more impressive. Of these record-setting breaking accomplishments was his 56-game hitting streak during the 1941 season, which is regarded as one of the records that will never be broken, in any sport. DiMaggio won 3 American League MVP awards in his career was selected to the All-Star Game every one of his 13 seasons. He missed three season in his prime because he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He resumed his career in 1946 and played until 1951. Not only did Joe have remarkable individual success, but was a major factor in the Yankees winning nine World Series Championships during his time there. In the years that he missed because of military duty the Yankees did not win a championship. Joe D. concluded his career with 2,214 hits and a .325 batting average, and had his No. 5 jersey retired by the New York Yankees and is forever immortalized in Monument Park and the Baseball Hall of Fame.
