Historical Jason Kidd Milestones
Selected to 10 All-Star Games, and a 6-time All-NBA performer, Jason Kidd is one of the top-10 greatest point guards of all-time. Kidd trails only Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson on the NBA's career triple-double list and is second behind John Stockton in both career assists and steals. Jason was a standout point guard during his two year career at the University of California. He set many freshman record and was the first sophomore to be named Pac-10 Player of the Year. Kidd entered the 1994 NBA draft and was selected 2nd overall by the Dallas Mavericks. He won co-Rookie of the Year honors with Detroit Pistons forward, Grant Hill in 1995 while leading the NBA in triple-doubles. Kidd was traded from Dallas to Phoenix during the 1996-97 season, he would lead the Suns to the playoffs every year until being traded to the New Jersey Nets in 2001. In his first season with the Nets, Kidd would finish second in the NBA MVP voting to Tim Duncan. In both 2002 and 2003, Kidd would lead New Jersey to the NBA Finals but came up just short of an NBA Championship both times. Jason Kidd, teamed with swingmen Richard Jefferson and Vince Carter formed New Jersey's "Big Three,” which produced some of the most exciting basketball the NBA had seen in the decade. Kidd’s run with the Nets ended when in February 2008, he requested and was granted a trade to the Dallas Mavericks, the team that originally drafted him. Besides his NBA accomplishments, Kidd has also been praised as an amazing player during his involvements with Team USA Basketball. In his professional Team USA career, Jason Kidd is an unbelievable 38-0, not counting his 6-0 exhibition record. As one of the games all-around best players, Jason Kidd has cemented his legacy in the NBA. Now as a head coach he has taken his talents to the bench where he has been just as successful.
