About Dwight Gooden Autographed Memorabilia & Collectibles

Historical Milestones

Dwight Gooden is one of the most talent pitchers to ever set foot on a mound in MLB history. Nicknamed “Doc”, or “Dr. K”, Gooden burst onto the scene in 1984 and went on to win the Rookie of the Year award. Gooden won 17 of his 31 starts that year, with an ERA of 2.60 and struck out a career 276 batters to lead the league. The following season in 1985, Gooden was even more unhittable with a miniscule 1.53 ERA, a career-high 16 complete game eight of which were shutouts, and once again led the league in strikeouts 268. Doc won the pitching Triple Crown that season for leading the league in strikeouts, wins and ERA. He was awarded his lone Cy Young Award following that season. In 1986, Gooden made the All-Star team for the third consecutive year and was once again dominant as the ace of the Mets staff. The Mets would go on to win the 1986 World Series, giving Gooden the only World Series Championship of his career.

After winning the World Series, Gooden would only be an All-Star one more time, in 1988, and his career went on a steady decline due to off the field issues ultimately leading to his release from the Mets in 1994. Although he would never be quite the same pitcher, Gooden found somewhat of a resurgence pitching for the Yankees in 1996 highlighted by pitching the only no-hitter of his career on May 14, 1996. Gooden spent two years in the Yankees rotation, two years in Cleveland’s rotation with the Indians and then spent the 2000 season pitching for three teams in the Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Devil Rays and a second stint with the Yankees before retiring. Gooden will always be remembered as the best pitcher in New York Mets history outside of Tom Seaver.

New York Mets fans will forever be grateful for getting the opportunity to watch Dr. K at his best when he was the most dominant young pitcher in the National League. For those fans, we offer some of the best autographed collectibles to celebrate Gooden’s great career. We have autographed photos of the Mets 1986 World Champion team and Yankees fans can get autographed collectibles from his no-hitter pitched in pinstripes. Every piece of Gooden autographed memorabilia comes guaranteed authentic and will look amazing when put on display.
