About Dennis Rodman Autographed Memorabilia & Collectibles

Historical Milestones

Dennis Rodman is one of the most well-known American professional basketball players and is one of the greatest rebounders to have ever played the game.

Ironically Rodman wasn’t the most athletic kid at 5’6” for the majority of his high school years; he was cut from his high school football team and quit his high school basketball team since he barely received playing time. After graduating from high school, Rodman spent much of his time working and playing basketball locally, and he developed into the 6’7” athlete we now know today. Coaches at Cooke Country Junior College and Southeastern Oklahoma State soon recognized Rodman’s skills. After a year with the former, Rodman enrolled at Southeastern Oklahoma State where his determination and tenacity had him averaging 26 points and 16 rebounds per game. In the 1986 NBA draft, at the age of 25, Rodman was selected by the Detroit Pistons. He was one of the key factors in helping bring a new era for the Pistons. Coached by Chuck Daly, Rodman played alongside Isiah Thomas and the duo helped bring the Pistons to be one of the best amongst the NBA. In 1989 and in 1990, the Detroit Pistons enjoyed the NBA championship win. He was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year as well as being selected to the NBA All-Star team in 1990. He soon became known for his tenacity and perseverance. In 1993, Daly retired and Rodman’s time with the Pistons came to an end, as he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs. With 823 rebounds, Rodman broke the 800-rebound limit and won his fourth straight rebounding title while also being selected to the All-NBA Team. Rodman was soon traded to the Chicago Bulls where he went on to average 5.5 points and 14.9 rebounds per game and won another rebounding title, alongside Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. In the 1996 NBA Finals, Rodman tied for the all-time record as he grabbed 20 rebounds and secured 11 offensive rebounds. His on-court prominence was associated with his notorious behavior, and as he became a great interest in the media, he continued to win his sixth rebounding title in 1996 and his seventh during the 1997-98 season. Dennis Rodman continued to make headlines as he dated Madonna, wore a wedding dress while claiming he was a bisexual individual who was marrying himself and promoting his autobiography titled Bad As I Wanna Be. During the 1997-98 NBA season, the Bulls released many star players via retirement or free agency and Rodman joined the Los Angeles Lakers for a short period of time before being signed by the Dallas Mavericks during the 1999-2000 NBA season. With the Mavericks, Dennis Rodman averaged 14.3 rebounds per game, a record high, but without much interest to the team. After his NBA career, Rodman had other life focuses with film and the sport of wrestling where he used his tenacity and fierceness. During the 2003-04 season, Rodman joined the Long Beach Jam of the American Basketball Association, but his return to the sport didn’t lead him to the NBA appearance he had hoped for. In 2006, Rodman signed a one-game deal for the UK basketball team that was part of the British Basketball League, the Brighton Bears. He continued to stay around the game as he played a multitude of international exhibition games. On April 4, 2011, Rodman was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
